as people begin to share information, negative and positive across boundaries(borders) what effect do you think that will have on governmental war machines?.

what about government censorship will it prevail during a time of disagreement between two countries who are at war?.

i think that one of the benefits of the information age is that government can find out in a heart beat what the masses under their control feel about issues they are concerned about in other countries and public willingness to sacrifice their lives over such issues.. to me i see the way i see it is the more informed a population is the better.

I agree that on the internet we share a lot of controversial opinions and may war with each other with words opposed to each others viewpoint. I considered this far better than killing one another over ideologies or government indoctrinated ideologies that can perhaps be overcome by a more logical solution offered to us by increased information on all levels?
Anyway information processing and information available gota have an upside in my book. I'm thinking in terms of releasing any hostilities through communication via the internet.

I'm sure the USA with it's intelligence gathering capacity will have it supercomputer hooked up to the internet and knows public intention. What government could pass up such opportunities, information is power!

I agree about the past,, but does the internet with information at your finger tips, put a big drag on individual government propaganda? Or at least add another factor to consider?
I'm thinking the most up to date countries will be taking this into consideration as a reall game changer when it comes to waging war. The internet public must be figured into the equation of should they go to war with each other.

To me I see the way I see it is the more informed a population is the better. And the better it is for peace between nations, North Korean of course is an exception.

earlier this week a new post on this forum announced that the 2017 worldwide annual service report was available on jw.org.

wow - that's earlier than the statistics for the 2016 service year which appeared in the 2017 yearbook last january!

This problem you exposed cast a serious dark cloud over the reliability of these reports being accurate. I'm sure that in your profession you know the lengths a person will go to, to stay in denial, especially if they bank their whole life on an Organization claiming to be God's Organization and they work their way to the top of management in that organization.

The whole thing smells deception and a lack of willingness to face the facts that they are in some serious doo doo.
The GB is trying desperately to hide from their members just how bad the situation really is for fear that many more will start doing independent internet searches to find out what's happening really happening. I'm sure all this bull shit reporting of figures is going to back fire big time on these devious ass holes.

I would not trust any figures the WT publishes. They are lying sacks of shit. Anything they publish has an agenda. They are trying to show growth and not let on that there is a big exodus happening. Selling valuable properties, moving to the boonies, dissolving congregations, selling Kingdom Halls, robbing congregations of their accounts and tons of bad publicity over child molestation lawsuits.
When have these guys ever been honest they only honestly print facts when it furthers their cause.
By giving a basic over all figure for the work world wide makes it easier to fudge the figures as less people know they fudged them.
Any growth they report I'm sure was inflated by the those who compiled it and suggestions from the GB.

Should private citizens be allowed to video record law enforcement?

i saw an article in the news yesterday that laws are going to be passed subjecting the police to being recorded by anyone while performing their duty or enforcing the law and encourages citizens to sue if they interfere.

some law enforcement agents become angry and confiscate recording devices from people recording them while making an arrest, etc.. it does seem that the work that the police and other government agents do is public and not private or confidential so there should be nothing to hide from the cameras.

on the other hand, how can one distinguish being shot by a camera or by a weapon until one is hit?.

Yes most definitely, when a police officer knows he's being video he is much more likely to make sure he does his job right and isn't abusive without proper cause for doing so.

I think not following the ARCs recommendations should put every body who is in line to receive payments should put them easily in the higher payments category above the 65,000 figure due to stubborn non compliance of recommendations thus putting children under their care in danger. I think the Governing Body needs to bite the bullet and stop hiding behind their arbitrary 2 witness rule and should start showing a modicum of concern for the children of their members.

Something about redress, and monetary payments
As part of our case study, the Jehovah’s Witness organisation provided us with files containing allegations, reports or complaints of child sexual abuse. They provided us with documents relating to at least 1,800 children and over 1,000 alleged perpetrators.
I see a lot of KHs going up for sale eventually in Australia to pay the victims.

1. The appropriate level of monetary payments under redress should be:
  a minimum payment of $10,000
  a maximum payment of $200,000 for the most severe case
  an average payment of $65,000.
